Help! Veggie Burgers Are No Longer Appealing to Me

If you’re thinking the above, try some of the following to mix things up:

1) Burnt onion and mushroom topping: heat 1/4 of a large sweet onion and a tablespoon of olive oil in an omelet pan. once the onion is translucent, add thinly sliced porcini mushrooms and shake around until the onion is slightly burnt and the mushrooms are soft. Ladle onto your veggie patty.

2) Tahini spread: 2 tablespoons tahini, a handful of cilantro, and a clove of garlic go into a blender. They emerge as a delicious replacement for yucky ol’ mayo.

3) Cheeeeeeese: Buy some really good vermont cheddar and smother that plastic-y Boca flavor.

4) Toss out the bun: serve your patty on some reconstituted Bulgur wheat and steamed spinach

5) Sweet Potato Fries: admit it—the burger is just a warmup for the main event; the fries are what’s crucial. Veggie Times has an easy and tasty recipe.
